Submission Guidelines

HiddenChapter is always looking for great writing. We love our audience, and we strive to provide them with work from emerging and established writers and artists. Along with offering regularly posted pieces, we make an effort to publish periodic anthologies of work that has appeared on the website. Below are some helpful guidelines for submitting to HiddenChapter.

Fiction, Non-fiction, Essays and Prose

We love it all. But time is our currency. We accept written works up to 2000 words – not a hard and fast rule, but if we see a 12,000 word novella roll in it will likely go to the bottom end of the slush pile until a very long weekend before it gets reviewed – and, even then, we'd probably end up surfing rather than reading. Flash fiction is fine, and naughty bits are acceptable, just nothing overtly pornographic. Fan fiction is discouraged. Our audience should be considered PG-13.

Poetry

We are not currently accepting poetry at this time.

Visual Art

Visual art submissions are typically by invitation only. However, feel free to send a query letter with some examples (png, gif, jpg).
